About us

Hi, I’m Jan C. Podbielski and I’ve always had a strong interest in fossils and Lapidary (the art of cutting stone). These interests have led to beading and silversmithing. These same interests also lead me to my wife Elizabeth, whom I met at a local Rock Club meeting. Her interest in beaded jewelry and minerals fit right in with mine. So naturally we got together. Her designs are noticeably different from mine and complement our Jewelry collection. Our daughter Kelsey, who adds insight on styles for the younger set, has yet another style. Our son Ian has become a great help to us by finding some interesting new materials to work with and has a clear eye for stones. Kendra, quite the artist, has a great knack for design. Together we’ve been doing Rock and Gem shows and craft shows for many years – now we’ve decided to show ourselves to the world. So thank you for viewing our online store. We hope you find something you can’t live without. Enjoy Jan, Elizabeth, Kelsey, Ian, and Kendra

  1. Good evening,
Do you sell rough rocks, and what are your shop hours. I live in Country Club Hills and would like to visit your shop. I am just beginning lapidary and making jewelry and cannot find any local shops to get supplies and settings from.
Thank you in advance for any help you can offer.

    1. Hi Pat,
Glad to hear from you. Sorry for the delayed response I’m still learning how to use this website.
YES!!!!! We sell rough rock I have over a hundred different varieties in my show room and TONS more in storage. Our hours are Saturdays from 10 am to 4 pm, can’t make it then call me at 708-625-5876 and we can setup an appointment. I’m a Lapidary and silversmith myself. I’m a small business so I don’t have a great deal of supplies in stock but am totally willing to carry things my customers are looking for. I think maybe the best thing to do is have you come in to the shop, bring some examples of your work and we can discuss your needs and we can go from there. What materials do you like to cut? What type of settings are you looking for, base metal, sterling silver?
We’re located at 25829 S. Oak Rd. Monee, IL 60449, from Country Club Hills strait down Cicero to Monee, turn left at the stop light, Court St. go to Oak Rd. (2 short blocks) turn left on Oak Rd. go one block North on Oak and your there. My show room is the main office of the small industrial building on the corner. When you turn north on Oak Rd you should see my open sigh in the window and my sign on the corner of the building.
      Look forward to meeting you!

  2. Hi Jan! I have not checked you out on the internet for months! Our move to CA. took up a lot of our time! Rocks, Minerals, etc. plus our 2 cats made the journey last Oct. Your website, Facebook, etc. look great. BTW, Happy Belated Birthday. I am going to post a couple of your past surprise birthday party pics and your web link on the SSESClub’s FB soon. Hope all are well! Dan and Peg

    1. Hi Peg,

Good to hear from you. Thanks for the Bday wish. Is the dust finally clearing from the move? Getting things settled in, I know it can take a while.
Sure go ahead and post some pictures.
I have to get busy and post some new content but I hardly know if I’m coming or going lately.
Things are well with us, getting Kendra ready to head off to college next month. So that’s been keeping us occupied.
Hope the weather there has improved your health.
Say hi to Daniel for us.
